Over the past few weeks, we have had the pleasure of sharing with you on LinkedIn a special series titled “Design and Emotions”. In this series, we presented a selection of inspiring projects that not only redefine our daily experiences but also profoundly impact our emotions and perception of the world. We explored projects like Headspace, NEO Candle, Echo, Alice is Missing, Cirque du Soleil, LEGO Braille Bricks, and Muji Hut.
We would now like to summarise our observations and share the main insights that emerged during this inspiring series.
Main Insights and Inspirations
1. Empathy and Compassion
Projects such as Echo and LEGO Braille Bricks are excellent examples of how design can serve inclusivity and break down social barriers. Echo is an innovative device that helps individuals with communication difficulties to express their thoughts and feelings. With its intuitive interface and empathetic user approach, Echo enables better understanding and fosters deeper relationships.
Meanwhile, LEGO Braille Bricks is a project that integrates blind and visually impaired children through play. Specially designed bricks with raised Braille dots allow learning through interaction and play, fostering shared experiences and understanding among children with diverse needs.
2. Minimalism and Functionality
Muji Hut and NEO Candle remind us of the power of simplicity and the importance of using natural materials to create spaces conducive to calm and reflection. Muji Hut is a minimalist cabin that offers an escape from the hustle of everyday life, promoting a life in harmony with nature. Its simple design encourages a focus on what truly matters.
NEO Candle is a modern approach to a traditional symbol of remembrance. Made from eco-friendly materials and designed with environmental awareness, it combines functionality with aesthetics, creating a product that is both beautiful and environmentally responsible.
3. Innovation and Technology
Alice is Missing and Cirque du Soleil demonstrate how modern technologies can be harnessed to create unforgettable and emotionally engaging experiences. Alice is Missing is an innovative RPG that unfolds entirely through text messages, creating a unique atmosphere of mystery and suspense.
Cirque du Soleil constantly redefines the art of performance, integrating advanced technologies with traditional forms of circus art. Through the creative use of light, sound, and interaction, it creates shows that captivate and move audiences worldwide.
4. Mental Health and Wellbeing
In today’s busy world, projects like Headspace take on particular importance. This meditation app uses thoughtful design and a user-friendly interface to support users in looking after their mental health. By providing easily accessible tools for meditation and mindfulness, Headspace helps reduce stress and improve well-being daily.
Summary
Each of these projects showcases how powerful thoughtful design can be in shaping our emotions and experiences. From supporting inclusivity and empathy, to promoting minimalism and functionality, to using innovation and technology to create profound experiences – design plays a key role in our lives.
