Design Mindset Detector™ Predisposition Test – what is it?

Design Mindset Detector™ is an advanced psychometric tool designed specifically to assess individual predispositions for applying Design Thinking in tasks and projects. It was created by experienced practitioners and scientists, and its effectiveness has been verified on a control group of over 500 people.

The Design Mindset Detector™ Predisposition Test consists of three main components. The first is the Multidimensional Design Mindset Questionnaire (MDMQ), a questionnaire with 98 questions aimed at assessing predispositions for applying various aspects of Design Thinking, such as intuitive solution selection. Completing the questionnaire takes an average of about 20 minutes.

The second component is a report that presents the questionnaire results in the form of detailed descriptions of four main areas and nine predispositions that make up the Design Mindset. The report is a tool for developing self-awareness and provides specific knowledge about one’s work style and approach to design.

The last component is individual development tips that help identify which predispositions are worth improving.

Design Mindset Detector™ is the first step towards fully utilizing the potential of individual predispositions in daily work, whether it’s designing innovations, services, or creating unique experiences.

What predispositions should a designer have?

A UX/UI designer should possess a set of key predispositions to fully realize their creative potential.

Openness

The first area, openness, focuses on the ability to concentrate on people and design empathy. This means the ability to understand and appreciate the needs of others and the ability to collaborate effectively, using different perspectives.

Curiosity

The second area, curiosity, involves the ability to think holistically and empirical intelligence. A designer should show interest in new ideas, be open to receiving new information, and quick in transitioning from talking to action.

Boldness

Boldness, the third area, includes free creativity and materializing ideas. It is the courage to take initiatives and create new solutions despite incomplete information, and the ability to work on multiple concepts simultaneously.

Determination

The last area, determination, refers to learning through experiments, the need for impact, and flexible goal pursuit. A designer should be characterized by a willingness to continually learn, mainly through action, as well as perseverance in overcoming difficulties and readiness to change approach, always aiming for the best possible solution.

These predispositions allow any designer to effectively create innovative solutions that meet the real needs of users.

How can the Design Mindset Detector™ Predisposition Test help with developing a Design Mindset?

The Design Mindset Detector™ Predisposition Test is a key tool in developing a Design Mindset. Firstly, it identifies individual predispositions necessary for effectively applying the Design Thinking approach. Through its use, the tested person gains precise information about their psychometric profile, which helps understand which predispositions are their strengths and which need further development.

The test results are presented in a detailed report that not only indicates the existing predispositions but also provides individual development tips. These tips are crucial as they allow for planning a development path and focusing on the areas that can bring the greatest benefits.

For teams and organizations, the Design Mindset Detector™ Test enables the creation of special development programs tailored to specific needs and goals. Such a focused and personalized development strategy maximizes the potential of a Design Mindset, leading to more effective and innovative approaches to design and problem-solving.
